The Internship programme for 2018 now open for applications.
The USTC hosts an active programme of internships. This is intended to provide scholars and students with an interest in analytical bibliography with an opportunity to work with the project team in St Andrews. The internship will involve extensive practice in the manipulation of digital resources, and interns will play a substantial role in the development of data for the project.
In the year 2017 the project group hosted a team of six interns from the universities of Leiden, Louvain, Nijmegen, Trento, and Udine. It is intended to recruit a team of roughly similar size for the year 2018.
The internship will be for a period of 6 weeks, 11 June – 21 July 2018. The USTC will meet the costs of transportation to and from St Andrews, and housing will be provided in university accommodation. There is no further remuneration attached.
All interns will also attend the USTC annual book conference, ‘Print and Power’, scheduled for 21-23 June 2018. The costs of their places at the conference will be met by the project.
Applicants should have an interest in the field of early modern history or book history. Applicants should also have a command of written and spoken English, and fluency in at least one other European language. Training in Latin will also be an advantage. Likely candidates will either be pursuing a postgraduate qualification or have recently completed a postgraduate degree, though we have in the past also offered an opportunity to well qualified undergraduates interested in pursuing further work in book history.
Interested candidates should apply by e-mail attachment to Arthur der Weduwen (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Your application should describe your qualifications and intellectual interests, and specify your language competence. Please append the name of one academic referee, who should be asked to email directly to Arthur der Weduwen, to whom preliminary enquiries should also be directed.
The deadline for applications is 31 December 2017, and successful candidates will be notified in January 2018. For the application, please visit the USTC website.
